Accounts
and Parish Council Finance
The
underlying remit of the Parish Council is to provide for the benefit of
the village through good financial management. Turners Hill Parish
council strives to make improvements to the village and to support
village organisations.
Grants
are given each year to St Leonard’s church towards the upkeep
of the churchyard and to Turners Hill Parish News which provides such a
wonderful service to us all. Grants have been made to many local groups
particularly those providing for our young people. Projects
have included the provision of allotments, purchase of youth shelter,
play equipment, rejuvenation of Withypitts pond, LIVE project to name
but a few!
Ongoing
expenditure covers items such as street lighting, grass cutting and
maintaining allotments and providing subsidy on train passes for senior
residents.
The
Parish Council considers the annual budget in November and a small
committee estimates the following year’s requirements. The
budget is discussed and approved by the Parish Council in the December
meeting. A request is submitted to the District Council for the funds
required, known as the Parish precept. The Parish Clerk produces
accounts which are audited by both an internal independent auditor and
by an Audit Commission appointed Auditor. The annual and monthly
accounts can be viewed by clicking on the links to the right.
